When you hire a skip, there are some dos and don’ts that you should be aware of. Here are our five tips for skip hire in Leeds:
- There are some things that you cannot put in a skip. This includes hazardous waste such as asbestos, fridges, solvent based paints and gas cylinders. We can give you a full list when you book with us.
- You need a permit for a skip to be placed on a public highway. This means that if you place a skip on the road you need to ensure that we obtain a permit for you for the duration of your skip hire. You can find out more here https://www.leeds.gov.uk/parking-roads-and-travel/licences-and-permits
- You need to know which size you need and can send us a picture of your waste so that we can advise. Skips should be filled to the level and not overfilled as this could be dangerous when we come to collect your skip and load it onto our vehicle.
- You don’t have to keep your skip for the full booked time. If your skip is ready to collect sooner, let us know. Just call us.
- You should never burn things in a skip. It’s against fire regulations as it could be dangerous and you could damage the skip and upset your neighbours!
